CommentNeuropathy target esterase, Neurotoxic esterase (NTE) also known as patatin-like phospholipase domain-containing protein 6 (PNPLA6), is an esterase enzyme that in humans is encoded by the PNPLA6 gene. It is not an alpha/beta hydrolase but can be inhibited by organophosphates that inhibits also cholinesterases and carboxylesterases. The inhibition of NTE is responsible for neurodegeneration induced by organophosphorus compounds and chemical warfare agents.
