It includes lipases from gram positive bacteria, organic-solvent tolerant, showing thermoalkalophilic properties and high molecular weight resulting from extra domain where a zinc ion is coordinatively bound to the enzyme. The family also contains poly (butylene adipate-co-terephthalate)-hydrolyzing lipase from Pelosinus fermentans
