She first worked on the structure determination and synthesis of Xanthocillin a naturally occuring antibiotic produced by Penicillium species. In Freiburg she started to work on oxime reactivators of acetylcholinesterase inhibited by organophosphorus. Among the more than 1000 oximes synthetized in Hagedorn laboratory (often referred as Hagedorn oximes), the most studied are named after the initials of co workers: LuH6 (Toxogonin) for Luttringhaus and Hagedorn, HS-6 for Schoene, HI-6 for Imro Stark, HLo 7 for Marlies Loffler HGG for Gross G. An obituary paper (ScienceDirect) by Peter Eyer retraces her achievements.
