Julius Axelrod (May 30, 1912 - December 29, 2004) was an American biochemist. He shared the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1970 for his work on the release, reuptake, and storage of the neurotransmitters adrenaline and noradrenaline along with Bernard Katz and Ulf von Euler. Many scientists working on cholinergic mechanisms worked as post-doc or collaborators in his lab: Leslie Iversen, Jacques Glowinski, Bert N LaDu
