Inhibitor Report for: Salicylic-acid

Salicylic Acid (SA) is a natural beta hydroxy acid in plants (bark of the white willow and wintergreen leaves).SA is a critical signal for the activation of plant defense responses against pathogen infections. SA can be methylated or conjugated to glucose. SABP2 binds SA with high affinity (Kd of 90 nM). SABP2 has strong esterase activity with methyl salicylate. SA has direct activity as an anti-inflammatory agent and acts as a topical antibacterial agent due to its ability to promote exfoliation.
